A lack of institutional leadership and predatory delay from Alaska's public utilities and state agencies have created the current crisis. While LNG imports are a necessary bridge as renewables are built, they are not a long-term solution. AK PIRG staunchly opposes expensive, long-term LNG obligations and is working extensively at the Regulatory Commission of Alaska to keep the lights on in the short term and protect consumers from being locked into LNG and rising market prices in the long term.
