The food system is one of the most powerful levers to address the climate crisis; research shows that shifting to plant-rich diets offers a higher climate return on investment than renewable energy or electric vehicles. Greener by Default works with hospitals, universities, and corporations, providing support to chefs and operators to nudge diners towards low-carbon, plant-rich meals while preserving freedom of choice. In the past three years, we have transitioned approximately 8 million meals from meat-based to plant-based. This is a high-impact, proven, scalable solution that reduces the carbon footprint of foodservice by 10-50%, while keeping diners happy.
